Redbill Beach

A five minute walk.  Here you can enjoy swimming in the beautiful turquoise waters or relaxing on the pristine white sand.  This is also one of the East Coasts' most popular surf beaches.  A coastal track starts here and leads you around to The Gulch and Governor Island. 

 

The Gulch  

A ten minute stroll on the coastal track from Peggy's Point.  Here you can purchase fresh seafood and observe local fisherman coming and going in this busy waterway.  

 

Governor Island

Governor Island Marine Reserve, with its spectacular underwater scenery, is recognised as one of the best temperate diving locations in Australia. The marine reserve includes Governor Island and all waters and other islands within a 400m diameter semi-circle from the eastern shoreline of Governor Island. The entire marine reserve is a fully protected ‘no-take’ area. Fishing and other extractive activities are prohibited.

 

Bicheno’s Glass Bottom Boat

Diamond Island

For those interested in nature, it'’s possible at low tide to walk out from the main beach to Diamond Island nature reserve, a low granite island just off Bicheno, where there is a colony of fairy penguins.

 

Bicheno Blowhole 

A natural wonder within walking distance.

 

Whalers Lookout

Follow the track up onto Whalers Lookout for beautiful views of Bicheno. Look for the rock orchids.

 

Bicheno town centre

Where you can enjoy cafes and restaurants and visit the local Tourist Information Centre. Services include ATM, Supermarket, Petrol Station, Newsagents, Hardware Store, Post Office, Chemist, Award Winning Butcher, plus numerous other specialty stores to explore.

Douglas-Apsley Gorge National Park 

Rugged river gorges, waterfalls and tranquil pools with large stands of dry eucalypt forest and pockets of rain forest.  An ideal place for a cool swim. 

 

Freycinet National Park 

Only half an hour drive to this magnificent red granite mountain range and the well known Wine Glass Bay. 

 

Rugged Granite Coast Line 

Scattered with white sandy beaches offering splendid views, picnicking, surfing, photography. 

 

Nature World

Bicheno's sanctuary for wildlife is a five minute drive.

Numerous note worthy wineries are dotted around the coast.
